Applied Optoelectronics Inc. (AOI), a leading provider of fiber-optic access products for cable broadband, data processing centers, telecommunications, and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), has unveiled QuantumLink™. This groundbreaking product facilitates remote access for managing and monitoring cable amplifiers, poised to revolutionize the cable broadband industry.
With QuantumLink, operators gain the ability to remotely control cable broadband amplifiers, offering convenience and improved customer service. It is available as an embedded feature in the next-generation intelligent amplifier, Quantum18, as well as as a modular upgrade for existing amplifiers. QuantumLink provides scalable network management without compromising performance.
As client demands for bandwidth continue to surge, and network complexities grow, cable service providers must address issues faster than ever before. Prior to QuantumLink, service disruptions meant operators deployed resources in various locations to identify problems. Now, they can integrate it into existing sets of tools for active monitoring of access issues, enabling operators to either rectify them remotely or deploy resources directly to the root of the problem. Operationally, this represents a significant leap forward, greatly reducing customer downtime.
QuantumLink offers a standards-based, open-source solution, ensuring optimized and secure remote communication with active devices in the network. It consists of a transponder in each amplifier and a virtual controller, allowing cable TV operators to deploy seamlessly on their hubs and head-ends, while maintaining compatibility with existing tools such as SNMP, RESTCONF, and KAFKA, minimizing service disruptions related to amplifiers.
The economic efficiency of this new product lies in operators’ ability to optimize network performance without the need for on-site specialists, resulting in cost savings that can be passed on to customers. Real-time access to data and analytics enables data-driven decisions to enhance network performance.
To further adapt to market changes and global bandwidth demands, AOI recently announced its decision to directly sell Quantum Bandwidth products to cable system operators. Quantum Bandwidth encompasses a range of high-speed access products, ensuring swift and reliable connections.
